Discovery: A Comic Lament - Friday June 1

Description: A play about the Doctrine of Discovery, the legal framework that justifies theft of land and oppression of Indigenous Peoples. It finds unexpected humor at the crossroads of justice and land use, offering both comic and challenging glimpses into the absurdity of white settler oppression of Indigenous Peoples and the land we live on. A show about love, and loss, of land, Discovery nudges us to question our stories with honesty and integrity. Representatives of Anglican, United, Lutheran, and Mennonite Settler communities are working together to host four productions of Discovery: A Comic Lament in the Waterloo Region from May 31 to June 3. The play is produced by Ted & Co., a theatre company that tackles faith and social justice issues through comedic storytelling. Invited guests - Mino Ode Kwewak N'gamowak (Good Hearted Women Singers). Location is accessible; please note there is a 225kg limit on the lift.
